UNTY Ice Cream Baby Tee

This design is a flip of the original Kimo Ice cream logo by the late artist Hani El-Masri, an award winning Egyptian artist whose contribution to the world of illustration far exceeds the fridges of Cairo kiosks. After a series of unfortunate events, he left Egypt in the late 80s to the US. Despite working through an industry that ridiculed him for being from a third world country, he doubled down and pushed through the challenges until he eventually landed a job as an aa concept and show designer at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) in 1990. In 1995 he moved to DreamWorks SKG, were he was heavily involved in the production of the movie, The Prince of Egypt.

The Kimo Ice cream logo is one of my favorites to come out of Egypt, because of its use of a character, an element Ive been known to apply to a few branding projects. This design serves as a tribute to Hani El-Masri’s legacy.
